Aquatics staff are exploring alternative programming options

After careful consideration and in the interest of public safety, the Town of Aurora has decided to cancel all scheduled 2020 Summer Aquatic programs. The Town’s existing aquatic programs are designed in a way that cannot be delivered in line with current provincial requirements for physical distancing and social gatherings.

The Regional Municipality of York is investing in building a safe, efficient and reliable Regional transportation network for all users. Improvements to Yonge Street between Henderson Drive and Industrial Parkway South in the Town of Aurora began in spring 2020 to improve the conditions of the roadway to provide safe travel for all users.

Aurora to issue fines for individuals not complying with emergency orders during COVID-19 pandemic

The Town of Aurora will begin strict enforcement of provincial emergency orders and trespassing of municipal closures this weekend. On March 27, the Province of Ontario granted Municipal Bylaw Enforcement Officers the ability to issue fines under the Emergency and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA) in an effort to flatten the COVID-19 curve.

Under the provincial guidelines, the Town of Aurora will begin to issue fines to individuals who do not comply with the following emergency orders:

The Regional Municipality of York, in partnership with Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and Town of Aurora, will be retrofitting the Tamarac Green Park stormwater management facility located at the southeast corner of Henderson Drive and McClellan Way.

The crews will be cleaning and modifying the stormwater management facility to reduce the amount of phosphorus entering the local stream and improve the quality of water entering the Lake Simcoe watershed.
